Our new back door!

We got a new back door.

Yeah. It's pretty much awesome.

Here is before:

Emily is standing in front of it. Sorry there isn't a full length of the door. It was just a wooden brown INTERIOR door...to the EXTERIOR...something's wrong with that. SO...

Here is a picture of the during process...

With the internal blinds closed....

With the blinds OPEN...

Yeah, I love it. :) Scott hasn't seen it yet. Tee hee.

"It's my party! I can cry if I want to!"

"It's my party! I can cry if I want to!"

Don't let this picture fool you! Emily was quite the happy "Birthday Girl"--except for when we tried to get her to wear a crown that said "Birthday Girl."

She had a beautiful pink dress that her Great-Grandma Campbell got her.

This is what she did when I said "Show me your pretty party dress!"

She got a fun new table and chairs from her Grammy!

She was VERY excited about presents!

Scott helped her open them.

She got a fun new stuffed cow named "Mooer" from Ellie (or as Emily calls her "Bellie") who happens to be fussing in the background.

She got a Mrs. Potato Head from Scott and me.

And a Princess tricycle which she willingly shared with her buddy Trevin! (She even let him ride in front sometimes!)

And here she is saying "Cheese!" just like she always does. Someday she is going to think this is so funny. :) We do!

And she got some super fun sidewalk chalk from Mary and Terral Fox. (Picture here, sharing in the merriment of sidewalk chalk!) And Ellie too. :)

Emily got some more fun presents from friends. Sorry I dont have a picture of all of them!!

Emily also got some more really cute presents from her Papa and Grandma Mabb in Arizona. It's a whole set of toys for a baby. Baby stroller, baby carseat, baby bassinet. It's VERY cute and she LOVES it. I didn't get any pictures of it at the party because we didn't put it together until the next day. I will definitely get those up so you can see how cute she is with them. She named her baby, "Baby Dolly" and she pushes that stroller around EVERYWHERE!!

And this was the cake! For two weeks leading up to her birthday, I kept asking her, "Emily, what kind of cake do you want for your birthday?" To which, every single time, she would reply, "Yellow green!" I wasn't sure exactly what that meant, but for what it's worth, it was a yellow cake with vanilla pudding inside and had (you guessed it) yellow and green frosting. I think it came out looking like a pineapple. Maybe that's what she wanted?! I'll have to ask her when she's older. :)

Oh yeah, and this is the cake AFTER.

Here are the Birthday Boy and Girl sharing their birthday cake!

Emily loved the cake! Probably because it was Yellow Green.

Alrighty, everybody SING! "Happy Birthday to you...."

After the presents and cake, we all went inside to play on Scott's birthday present (that he bought with his birthday money) ROCK BAND! (Or as Emily call's it...ROCK MAN!) She helped me play the drums.

And here is our tuckered out Birthday girl right before bath and bedtime. She got to stay up WAY past her bedtime (look at the clock!). But it was her birthday party!! Thank you to all of our friends that came to celebrate Scott and Emily's birthday with us! You are all so great and we truly value your friendship.

Dear sweet Emily,

Thank you for being our little angel baby, most of the time. You have definitely taught us a lot in the last year. It seems not too long ago at all that we were celebrating your 1st birthday last year. We hope you know how much your Daddy and I love you. Thank you for being patient with us as we are doing our best to raise you to be a happy, loving, and sweet child of God. (Most of this you are doing on your own, though.) Thank you for always making us laugh with your silly faces and constant bedtime requests for "sing a song? sing a song?" You are so incredibly smart and we look forward to many many more birthdays. We love you, Emmy!

Love, Mommy and Daddy

LET THE RECORD SHOW....Scott did get some presents for his birthday ON his birthday, between the nausea and achey pains all day long. He got a fishing pole and tackle box, and a toddler pack to go hiking with Emily! He opted for no pictures, but just so you know, he was still spoiled on his birthday. Lots of saltine crackers and Gatorade too. :)

NO PARTY!

As some of you may know, this week was packed pretty tight with events for me and all of them were right after one another. Here's the run down:

Monday: Chelsea's Bday Party (make cake)

Tuesday: Scott and Emily's join Bday party (make cake, wrap presents, make BBQ, etc.)

Wednesday: Say goodbye to Mom and Kourtney (before they go to Japan) drive to SLC Meet up with Holly for HER birthday, Sign in at Marriot Center for Scentsy Convention

Thursday: Scentsy Convention...allll day

Friday: Scentsy Convention and Awards Ceremony...alll day (This is Emily's Birthday)

Saturday: Wake up at 5am and drive home to Cedar to do the Miss Iron County Pageant

Sunday: Teach Young Women's

I meticulously planned each event so that I would have enough time to do everything for it and y'know...sometimes things don't work out like you plan.

SCOTT IS SICK!

Today is his actual birthday and he spent a good portion of last night "tossing his cookies"...and has the flu. Poor guy.

Therefore, the party which would be commencing this evening has been postponed. Anyone who was planning on coming, please pencil in on your calendars NEXT Wednesday at 6:00 for the party! Emily doesn't really know it's her birthday on Friday, so she can wait a few more days. Scott would rather wait a few more days so he can actually enjoy the party. AND, maybe (just maybe) I will have a minute to breathe and actually relax before the party so I can truly enjoy it. (Maybe this is a blessing... poor Scott .. in disguise.)

For what it's worth (I don't even know if he will see this...) Happy Birthday, Love. I hope that you start feeling better soon. I love you!

Next Wednesday, be there!! :)

The Spaghetti-O Soprano

Today while Emily was eating her Spaghetti-O's I decided to take a moment and sit down and play the piano (which I don't get to do very often). I was playing around with some hymns and Emily starts belting out her version of singing along with what I was playing. So I recorded a song onto the piano, so I could still have the music playing while I went and got the video camera ready.

Here she is, caught on video! For the first little while, she didn't know I was filming. I love how she is starting to sing. It makes my heart melt. I would love to know what she thinks she's singing about though!

Reasons why I love Scott #1

I stole this idea from my friend Mary's blog...(thanks Mary)

But sometimes Scott just does something so funny or cute, it just reinforces why I chose him... well, he sorta had to choose me too, but anyway..

Reason #1:

"I have a beautiful singing voice..."

This story begins when a couple weeks ago Emily decided to wake up at an insanely hour of like 2 in the morning. (This is VERY abnormal for her!) I tried to bring her into bed with us (my BAD idea) which didn't work because she thinks it's time to play. An hour later, Scott had had enough and took her into her room, at which point she completely started to freak out. (I am in and out of sleep in the other room, counting my blessings that Scott is such a good helper with Emily.)

I'm not sure how long it was later that I noticed, but she was being very quiet and Scott was still in the room with her. A while later, Scott comes out of her room, shuts the door and climbs back into bed. I sleepily roll over and ask him "How did you finally get her to go back to sleep??!" to which he calmly and as nonchalantly as possible says "I have a beautiful singing voice..." I smiled to myself, thanked him, and rolled back over and went to sleep.

Now anyone who knows Scott knows that he is not a "singer" per se, but does his best--and I love it. I always wanted to marry someone who was a great singer *cough cough* JOSH GROBAN *cough cough* but decided that those kinds were pretty hard to come by. I decided that I would be just fine with someone who would appreciate MY singing, which Scott does--and I am very grateful.

But when Scott sings our daughter back to sleep at 3 in the morning, as far as I'm concerned, he has the most beautiful singing voice in the world.

"I have a beautiful singing voice.."

Yes you do, Scotty. Yes, you do.

(This is an old picture from when Emily was about 4 months old. Scott got her dressed for church and is holding her up in front of her mirror so she can see what she looks like. I happened to catch this sweet moment on camera. Another reason why I love my sweet husband.)

It's been FOUR years!

Scott and I celebrated 4 years on July 26th. I'd like to use the cliche term "It has gone by so fast.." (which it has) but when you stop to think about all of the things we have done in the last 4 years, it seems like it WOULD take 4 years to complete all of them. For example, in the last 4 years we have:

--Worked at UPS (still do!)

--Worked at the Bumbleberry Theatre

--Worked at the Utah Shakespearean Festival

--Worked at T-Mobile (Still do! 1st year as employee, 2nd year as Manager)

--We bought our first home in November 2006

--Kristin graduated from SUU with a Bachelor of Arts in Music

--We welcomed Emily Mae Mabb on August 14, 2007

--We have done LOTS of remodeling on our home *I will be blogging about this soon!*

--Took our first "family" pictures

--and SO much more!

Thank you my Scotty for FOUR fabulous years. I look forward to many more fun memories with our little family. I love you.
