The Spaghetti-O Soprano

Today while Emily was eating her Spaghetti-O's I decided to take a moment and sit down and play the piano (which I don't get to do very often). I was playing around with some hymns and Emily starts belting out her version of singing along with what I was playing. So I recorded a song onto the piano, so I could still have the music playing while I went and got the video camera ready.

Here she is, caught on video! For the first little while, she didn't know I was filming. I love how she is starting to sing. It makes my heart melt. I would love to know what she thinks she's singing about though!

Reasons why I love Scott #1

I stole this idea from my friend Mary's blog...(thanks Mary)

But sometimes Scott just does something so funny or cute, it just reinforces why I chose him... well, he sorta had to choose me too, but anyway..

Reason #1:

"I have a beautiful singing voice..."

This story begins when a couple weeks ago Emily decided to wake up at an insanely hour of like 2 in the morning. (This is VERY abnormal for her!) I tried to bring her into bed with us (my BAD idea) which didn't work because she thinks it's time to play. An hour later, Scott had had enough and took her into her room, at which point she completely started to freak out. (I am in and out of sleep in the other room, counting my blessings that Scott is such a good helper with Emily.)

I'm not sure how long it was later that I noticed, but she was being very quiet and Scott was still in the room with her. A while later, Scott comes out of her room, shuts the door and climbs back into bed. I sleepily roll over and ask him "How did you finally get her to go back to sleep??!" to which he calmly and as nonchalantly as possible says "I have a beautiful singing voice..." I smiled to myself, thanked him, and rolled back over and went to sleep.

Now anyone who knows Scott knows that he is not a "singer" per se, but does his best--and I love it. I always wanted to marry someone who was a great singer *cough cough* JOSH GROBAN *cough cough* but decided that those kinds were pretty hard to come by. I decided that I would be just fine with someone who would appreciate MY singing, which Scott does--and I am very grateful.

But when Scott sings our daughter back to sleep at 3 in the morning, as far as I'm concerned, he has the most beautiful singing voice in the world.

"I have a beautiful singing voice.."

Yes you do, Scotty. Yes, you do.

(This is an old picture from when Emily was about 4 months old. Scott got her dressed for church and is holding her up in front of her mirror so she can see what she looks like. I happened to catch this sweet moment on camera. Another reason why I love my sweet husband.)

It's been FOUR years!

Scott and I celebrated 4 years on July 26th. I'd like to use the cliche term "It has gone by so fast.." (which it has) but when you stop to think about all of the things we have done in the last 4 years, it seems like it WOULD take 4 years to complete all of them. For example, in the last 4 years we have:

--Worked at UPS (still do!)

--Worked at the Bumbleberry Theatre

--Worked at the Utah Shakespearean Festival

--Worked at T-Mobile (Still do! 1st year as employee, 2nd year as Manager)

--We bought our first home in November 2006

--Kristin graduated from SUU with a Bachelor of Arts in Music

--We welcomed Emily Mae Mabb on August 14, 2007

--We have done LOTS of remodeling on our home *I will be blogging about this soon!*

--Took our first "family" pictures

--and SO much more!

Thank you my Scotty for FOUR fabulous years. I look forward to many more fun memories with our little family. I love you.
